Ashé Cultural Tours was founded in 2017 by Ken Schweitzer (a music professor at a small Liberal Arts College in Maryland) and Bonnie Brady as way to share their love of Cuba’s unique musical, cultural, natural, and political landscape with our neighbors on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Blessed with countless positive referrals, our business now serves a national audience with new clients joining us from across the United States. In addition to our private tours, we enjoy developing partnerships and now work with several Colleges and Universities, offering tours for student, alumni, and continuing education programs. It is still legal to travel to Cuba?
Ashé Cultural Tours is licensed by OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) to support travel that qualifies as “Support for the Cuban People,” as well as “Group People-to-People Educational Activities.” While in Cuba, we provide a full time educational experience that (1) enhances contact with the Cuban people, support civil society in Cuba; (2) promotes the Cuban people’s independence from Cuban authorities; and (3) results in meaningful interaction with individuals in Cuba.
We achieve this by using private home stays, sharing meals in our homes and at private restaurants, and working exclusively with private guides/translators
